Capital Talk

Capital Talk is a flagship Geo News talk show which is an hourly based discussion on current national, international, political and regional issues hosted by famous anchor and journalist Hamid Mir. Capital Talk mostly focuses on the challenges, issues and concerns facing by Pakistan on a daily basis. The format of the show includes a panel of well-known and most concerned personalities who participate in a discussion which contributes towards reaching feasible and practical solutions on day’s hot issue. Going along with the principle that there are two sides of every picture, Capital Talk provide an opportunity to discover both these sides. The show is aiming to remain on top of the news and provide prompt and detailed analysis, providing audiences accurate information with a clearer picture of the issue. Capital Talk expands on debates, which in turn, helps provide insights into the critical issues of Pakistan’s political set-up, no matter how contentious.

Capital Talk broadcasts on Geo News every Monday to Thursday at 08:03pm and repeat telecasts on next day at 11:03am. It is the oldest talk show from Geo News Live which is still continuing in the history of electronic media in Pakistan.  Capital Talk has also covered many special events with special transmission including latest sit in of PTI and PAT in Islamabad. Geo News has the honor of producing such talk show.

In December 2007, capital talk was banned by the government of General Pervez Musharraf due to Hamid Mir's continued criticism on his government. The show on aired again in January 2008 but was hosted by Muhammad Malik current managing director of state owned television network instead of Hamid Mir. After the general election of 2008, Hamid Mir returned to Capital Talk as a permanent host.

On October 2012, Capital Talk reached to an age of decade of on airing. A special episode of Capital Talk telecasted to celebrate that milestone. Hamid Mir in his show has interviewed many prominent political and leading personalities including Mian Nawaz Shareef, Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, Chaudary Shujaat, Usama Bin Laden and Pervez Musharraf.
